2018 Hyland Coury Old Vine Pinot Noir (McMinnville)

This own-rooted, single-clone effort offers a sensational glimpse of the early days of Oregon winemaking. Supple, concentrated and thick with marionberry, plum, pie cherry and dark chocolate, it's the sort of wine you dive down into. The nooks and crannies are packed with interesting details of turmeric, black tea and tobacco.

2018 Hyland Founders' Selection Pinot Noir (McMinnville) 

A very limited barrel select reserve; this gets an extra dollop of new oak (40%) during 10 months in barrel. Though it lacks the tight specificity of the single-clone bottles, it comprehensively represents the whole estate in a single wine. A mix of red berries, barrel toast, some light stem flavors and a dusting of coffee grounds, it's a substantial, well-structured wine that drinks well already but should add further details with aging. Drink now and through the rest of the decade.

2018 Hyland Dijon Old Vine Pinot Noir (McMinnville)

This single-vineyard selection is tightly wound with dense raspberry fruit at its core. The aromas promise depth; the wine delivers. It's young, vertical and structured for aging. The acidity is pinpoint, and the tannins supportive. If you open it now, give it lots of aeration. Or tuck it away and drink after 2024.

2018 Hyland Pommard Old Vine Pinot Noir (McMinnville)

This juicy single-clone selection is loaded with dark fruits—blackberries and cherries. The fruit flavors are beautifully melded and accented with toast and spice from aging in 20% new French oak. A small percent of the ferment was whole cluster, adding a lightly earthy counterpoint to the expressive Pommard clone fruit. The balance overall is perfect.

2018 Hyland Wadenswil Old Vine Pinot Noir (McMinnville)

This old vine (50+ years), single-clone selection is full, forward, fruity and flat out delicious. Strawberry, rhubarb, sweet cherry and light white pepper flavors spread out broadly across the palate, making this instantly likable. What it lacks in depth it more than makes up with breadth and immediate pleasure. One-third was aged in new French oak.
